Yatir Winery

How is it that I haven't given you any decent information about Yatir Winery? Their wines - all kosher - are really great, and they are a lovely place to visit for tastings and tours.

While many wineries achieve kosher status by Boiling the Wine, Yatir is considerably more careful. Yatir hires an entirely orthodox staff. In every stage of production only orthodox hands come in contact with the grapes and other ingredients that make up the wine. As you can imagine, it's not cheap to find qualified hands to do this work, certainly not as cheap as a high flame, but you get what you pay for.

Call in advance to arrange a tasting and/or tour. Yatir is just west of Arad.

Kosher Wine for Christmas in Shiksaland

what happens when you drive a phenomenal bottle (or 3) of wine around in your rental car, bring the wine in and out of hotels, take it on a half-day flight, then store it in a wine fridge until a worthy occasion/holiday?

well, sometimes the wine doesn't make it (or maybe it was a bad bottle even before you left the winery) but sometimes the wine is still phemomenal. Phew!

Yatir Winery I so so so owe you a legit post. It's coming, I swear. In the meantime I have to tell my readers about your incredible 2004 'Yatir Series' Cab blend. What a hit at the Christmas Eve party hosted by my parents. Kosher wine can be really great (not just good, or tolerable) and Yatir is the best example of great Kosher wine the Shiksa knows. and my dad is forever converted to Kosher wine. :)
