CSJ gets freaked out at the mere mention of Christian sites but he pulled himself together for the Dome of the Ascension, Gethsemane, and others. I love him for that.
Yardenit, however, is a horse of a different color. I too felt somewhat freaked out as we turned off Road 90 and caught a glimpse of the white-gown-clad-baptismees. More overwhelming than moving, Yardenit boils down to a gift shop, a restaurant, and some singing, wet Christians. Not that I didn’t fill a plastic bottle with water from the Jordan River (for my mom).
Other people will surely enjoy Yardenit more than we did so I will close this post with a last thought: why the lovely signage outside in front, but no corresponding trinkets? All the ‘gifts’ inside were cheesy and generic. I highly recommend the creation of at least a key chain with the below insignia
Yardenit is at the southern end (tip?) of the Sea of Galilee aka Lake Kinneret (Hebrew ים כנרת)
