a reader wrote in to ask about 3-5 day February cruises from Haifa to Turkey, Greece, etc (and to say some nice things about Shiksa). if any other reader has an idea/suggestion or any sort of advice regarding cruises, please leave a comment below or email me. thanks.
cruises are not my expertise (I'm afraid of gigantic boats) but having been aboard many different ferries, boats, and ships in both Greece and Turkey, I can say that the waters there are lovely. I can also say that "departure/arrival time" is a bit loose in Greece. And that the weather should be 50's F on the beautiful Turkish coast that time of year.
I also know that some of CSJ's Israeli cousins go to Greece with some frequency - the travel is safe and easy.
Caspi Cruises and Mano Maritme are the two cruise lines of Israel. Their ships appear to leave from Haifa.
Here's some information I got from MedCruise (the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports): Haifa Port is Israel's main passenger ship port handling both cruise and ferry line traffic at the newly expanded passenger terminal. The 5,500 sq mtr facility has a cafeteria, currency changer, parking facilities, and a bus terminal for excursion groups. A large duty-free shopping facility and international telecommunications center will open soon. The terminal can also handle private cars being shipped by passengers. The commercial center is a short walk and the main railway station and local bus service are nearby. Car rentals can also be arranged. The airport is located east of the port.
the Shiksa will continue to research this query - and says thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help.
