Yes Mint Tea deserves its own post. Mint Tea in Israel is an experience. You are served a mug of hot water filled with mint leaves – a luxury in the states – and a black tea bag. Sorry this picture is so lame.
Though I often drank my tea without adding any actual tea, most people I saw dipped the bag quickly – more for color than flavor it seems. I did some of both, and a few times (yes I had mint tea many times after CSJ’s cousin first encouraged me to do so) I let the tea seep heartily.
Lemonada is on almost every menu in Israel. You can get it with or without mint. Sometimes the mint is tossed in, full leaves and stems, other times it appears to be shredded by blender. Either way, it’s fantastic. As I mentioned, mint is not so abundant where I live so to have such large quantities – and for it to be so sweet – is a true treat. Be sure to experience one or both of these beverages.
The best lemonada we had was blended with mint and honey. If only lemons and mint at home were so sweet I could recreate this delicious drink.
